Chatham Islands Shipping Service Consultation
Overview
The Ministry of Transport is inviting Chatham Islanders and key stakeholders to share their views on what they see as important factors for a new shipping service to the Chatham Islands.
This survey asks about the importance of different aspects of the service, including the frequency of the service; vessel capacity; reliability; affordability, and ownership interests. It also asks for feedback on proposals received from the Ministry’s recent Request for Proposals (RfP).
There is an opportunity to give general feedback at the end of the survey.
Feedback received will be considered as part of our recommendations to Government – so please ensure you have your say.
If you would prefer to provide more general feedback, please email pmim@transport.govt.nz – including “Submission on Chatham Islands Shipping Service” as the subject line. Note that your submission will be subject to any requests made under the Official Information Act 1982. If you want personal details removed from your submission, please indicate this in your email. Any submissions need to be received by 7 July 2025.
